Impressions from Skopje by Andreea Murasan, XC

The opportunity we had to take part in the first project meeting in Skopje was absolutely great.

It was a long way, almost 12 hours by car but it was worth every minute of it.

The activities organized by the Macedonian team were varied and interesting. The first presentation was about Macedonia, about their highschool,”Boro Petrusevski”. As  the Macedonian teacher said in the presentation:”it’s the most important modern highschool in Skopje”. We were glad that we visited the most modern highschool in Macedonia. They work and earn their own money to invest in their school,so we must admire them for this. There are about 80 teachers and more than 1000 students.

After the tour of the school,we had to present our material. In spite of all the emotions and excitement, it was great. We enjoyed a series of activities during the workshops, such as: ”fruit salad” (games), introducing ourselves and many more.

After the presentation of the team from Slovenia,we had a break, so we visited the city center: we saw Vero Center, the statue of Alexander Macedon, and after that we met the teachers and we visited two museums:Mother Tereza’s memorial museum and the history museum. Alexander Macedon is the main symbolic figure of the Macedonian people. He is very important for the Macedonians, many streets and places are named Alexander Macedon.

We were surprised to learn that many Macedonian words have almost the same pronunciation as the Romanian ones.

I was impressed by the beauty of the place…it has been a very beautiful experience.

The second day was fun too .We went to the Ramstore Center, which is bigger than the Vero Center. In the evening we went to a CafĂ© Club, where we had a great time. I made new friends like: Anne, Ana Marje , Viki , Kaja and many more. It’s really important to make new friends, to communicate, to express yourself.

Besides learning strategies about a successful career, we learned a lesson about life, meaning that communication at all levels is essential in life .So,what we are trying to do  in the project is to teach people,to make people understand what to do in a job interview, to write a CV, body language, dress code, and so on.

I was really happy, I think that our visit built a “bridge” between Macedonia, Slovenia and Romania.

I am happy that I could communicate ,improve my English and see a very beautiful place named Skopje.

Why should students join international projects?
Because they can learn new things, interesting and very useful. These projects help you very much, you can see new places ,meet new people, make new friendships, learn to be a better communicator, get experience, improve your English, learn about other people’s traditions. Because they can represent Romania and their school.
They can build connections between Romania and other countries.
